Frozen Pipe Break

The weather changes quickly here and can drop below 32 real quick. Last weekend, the temperature dropped below 32 twice.

The biggest problem is hose bibs freezing and splitting. Fortunately, Ball Plumbing uses frost-free bibs. Frost-free does not mean you can abuse them--you still need to take the hose off each winter---but it does mean that if the bib does freeze break, it minimizes water damage.

This is a hose bib with a freeze break:

Whoa, a busted pipe! We had that same situation once. It was the kitchen pipe which froze up for an extended period of time. We thought it was going to thaw overtime, but the water expanded further and the pipe burst! From then on, we never let it froze again. All the pipes in our house are now insulated.

Oh my goodness! The cracked pipe seemed like it will burst anytime! You have no choice but to replace it. In my situation, I always manage to apply an efficient insulation around the house pipes to prevent it from the harsh weather.

Just by looking at the photo, you can really say that the pipe could break at any moment. Well, did it? Geez! When you notice that your pipe is in this condition, you must really give it your utmost attention. It will really be a nasty headache when the pipes split. So make sure that you fix it before it gets any worse.
